Weihenstephaner Kristall Weissbier

Style: Kristalweizen

What makes this beer different: I would describe this as a “hefeweizen light”

Will I be drinking this again: Yes this was a good summertime drink

Grade: B+

8/14/2010: Does this picture look distorted to you? It kind of hurts my brain. Anyways thanks so much to Mike from BonBeer for suggesting this beer to me. It is my first Kristalweizen ever. To be honest its the first time I have ever even heard of the style so I had to look it up.

A filtered version of a Hefeweizen, showcasing bright and clear bodies from pale straw to light amber. Overall character will be more clean and softer on the palate, and the common banana and phenols will be more subtle.

Well this certainly is one of the most transparent colored wheat beers I have ever drank. The smell is not very prominent, all I really get is wheat. The flavors are very soft, but nice. Mostly classic yeasty wheat flavors, slightly tangy, and a little kick of clove. The mouthfeel is actually really nice for how “lite” of a beer this appears to be. Very very well carbonated, which makes this an awesome beer for a hot summer day.

Picture of the day: I don’t know where this building is, but its pretty bad ass.
