What makes this beer different: Pepper heat in a beer? But it works in a weird way.
Will I be drinking this again: Have to be in the mood for it but yes.
2/09/2010: So I have had this one sitting around for awhile, and figured today was the perfect day to try it because I just cooked up some Guinness/Filet Mignon Chili. Here is the recipe, but I modified it a bit. Added triple the guinness and half the beef stock. It was so damn good.
Rogue Chipotle ale smells like caramel with some chili powder. The taste at first is mostly just caramel malts, then the tastes jumps QUICKLY into chiles. It isn’t the smoothest transition but it works. It isn’t exactly spicy, but you can feel the heat in the back of your throat. I am probably not the best judge of this because I am somewhat immune to really hot spices. Also a bit of smoke flavor to it. Mouthfeel is actually pretty nice and well carbonated. If you are a chile/spicy food lover like myself, this one is a must try.
