What makes this beer different: The meatiest tasting beer EVER. Never thought I would use the word meat to describe a beer.
Will I be drinking this again: Probably not, but I’ll bet it would be great for marinating a steak.
2/24/2011: Did I REALLY want to try this beer? No… But I bought it purely because I was extremely curious. I’ve had ‘smoked’ and ‘rauch’ beers before, but never had one that was bold enough to use bacon in the name. I split this bottle with my buddy Donnie who is also a stout lover.
After pouring the beer, the first smell you get is similar to how your clothes smell the day after you sit around a campfire. Oh that is, if your clothes were also dipped in a meat vat. Also a bit of chocolate in the mix. The flavor at first is an A. It literally was like drinking chocolate covered bacon. Which by the way if you have never tried chocolate covered bacon, I feel that you need to because it encompasses everything that makes America great. Back to the beer, there is also some bittersweet chocolate in the mix, as well as a hint of licorice. The meaty flavor wears on you after a bit though. To be honest I had a really hard time finishing the whole thing. Mouthfeel was slick, and just above average. One of the most unique beers I have ever sampled, but will probably not be drinking this again in the future.
