What makes this beer different: I feel like I just bit into a sap filled Christmas tree
Will I be drinking this again: No way… this was too much for me
10/16/2010: Last beer of my Short’s Brew marathon. Spruce Pilsner is an Imperial Pilsner, a style I have never tried before. Apparently you can make any style an Imperial (Double) these days. Also my first Spruce beer which used to be a pretty popular thing back in the 90’s apparently.
The nose smells like… a Pine tree! Thats the only smell I am getting. The flavor is intense and almost medicinal. Lots and lots of pine, with a little bit of malt to back it up. A good bit of pine/fruity hops. As I have mentioned many times Pine is not one of my favorite flavors in the world, so I might not be the best person to give a 5 star review on this bad boy. Body was a bit light for an imperial style beer, with good carbonation. Not going to lie, if this wasn’t my beer for the day I may have poured it down the drain. I appreciate what they were trying to do here but it was painful drinking all 12 ounces. I wish they would have toned down the pine, and cranked up the malt a bit.
Picture of the day: Excuse me sir, is that a weasel on your head?
