Purchased at: Jolly Pumpkin Cafe – Ann Arbor
What makes this beer different: Cinnamon Covered Lemons
Will I be drinking this again: Prob not.
Grade: B+
1/30/2010: Picked this one up while visiting the Jolly Pumpkin Cafe back in early January. I got lucky and snagged the last one. Apparently it was a running gag that for years Jolly pumpkin never had a pumpkin ale.
The smell is “barnyard funk”, cinnamon, and lemon. The taste is exactly the same. A lot of lemon flavor with faint hints of cinnamon and pumpkin, but you REALLY have to dig deep for the pumpkin. This has that funky tart/sour flavor that most Jolly Pumpkin beers have. It is a good flavor, just not something I would consider a pumpkin ale. Mouthfeel is medium, kind of fizzy. Again a good brew just for the style it needs a good bit more pumpkin flavor.
Funny Picture of the day: This one is actually a video. Saw it on tosh.0 (actually a pretty funny show on comedy central). Not sure why but when this kid starts eating it cracks me up.
