Purchased at: Vintage Estate – Boardman OH
What makes this beer different: Nice balance of malt/hops
Will I be drinking this again: Yes, this stuff is groovy
Grade: B+
1/19/2010: It’s official; I’ve been bitten by the hop bug. I just made a trip up to Vintage Estate and grabbed a bunch of hoppy beer. So keep your eye open for some more reviews that feature beers with large amounts of marijuana’s cousin.. the hop. *Insert corny hippie joke here*
Flower power smells like citrus and hops. Tastes like a lot of hop, but a bunch of fruit flavors balance it out. I taste apricot and orange? A bit of toasty malt in there also. This actually tastes like a tamer version of Dreadnaught to me. Again I admittedly am not the best at technical reviews for IPA’s as I am just getting into them, but this beer is very drinkable. Hops are not super intense, but you know they are there.
Funny Picture of the day: Very slick little personal ad.
Drew,
Did you pick up any Hopslam while you were this way? It’s pretty available (not sure about PA). Be interested to know what you think, with your new hop appreciation. Double Trouble from Founders is pretty bitchin’ too.
It wasn’t out yet when I was out there.. But I did get a chance to try it at Vintage Estate in Boardman on tap… and damn it was good…
PA supposedly isn’t getting ANY barrels this year… not cool
