Purchased at: Arcadia Tavern
What makes this beer different: Grapefruit hop flavor
Will I be drinking this again: Hard to find in PA so probably no
Grade: B+
1/02/2010: Had this on tap at the Arcadia Tavern in Battle Creek. This is actually my first beer from Arcadia so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. They had a lot of other stuff on tap, but most of them actually didn’t rate very high on beer advocate. So I decided to go with this one because it rated a B+, and I am trying to be more open to hoppy beers.
Very nice golden color as you can see, and it smells like a barnyard to be honest, very raw. Citrus and Grapefruit hop flavors are the first thing to hit you, but they fade a bit after drinking about half of the beer. Then the rye malt kicks in and ends up being very smooth, a bit dry, and well balanced. Mouthfeel was a bit heavier than I expected, but still about medium. I am starting to crave hoppy beers every once in awhile, and this one hit the spot. Would have ranked it higher if it would have been more balanced from the start.
