What makes this beer different: Pretty typical Scottish Ale

5/6/2010: So far I have had a decent amount of Three Floyds beer. All have been acquired through trades considering their beer doesn’t make it any farther east than Indiana. Every beer I have tried from them have all had their own little twist on their respective style. This is the first one that was a pretty straight Scottish Ale to me.
Robert the Bruce is a pretty straight forward Scottish Ale in my opinion. The smell is a lot of caramel malt, a little bit of chocolate too maybe? The taste is all about the caramel, and yes a bit of chocolate that I got in the smell. A tiny bit of bitter hops going on. Mouthfeel is a bit on the heavier side, like with other Scottish ales (This effect is intentional as these styles are boiled longer than normal). Alcohol has a little bit of a punch at 6.5%, would have guessed it closer to 8.5%. Overall a good beer, just no wow factor to it.
